After an undefeated season a year ago, the University of Central Florida Knights became a household name. This season, UCF is already the only undefeated team in the state of Florida.

With Florida State coming of an embarrassing loss at Syracuse and the Gators and Canes also in the loss, column, UCF is the highest-ranked Florida team in the state, according to the Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Sunday.

UCF was supposed to take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. but the game was canceled due to Hurricane Florence.

In a statement, UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham called it “the sensible decision at this time” with Florence’s projected path carrying the storm through the state.

UCF and North Carolina are looking at the possibility of rescheduling later this season.

Alabama, Clemson and Georgia maintained their spots in the AP Top 25 poll but the later two teams are in for a second road test to begin the season.

No. 2 Clemson faces the option for a second week in a row as the Tigers travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech.

Georgia handled South Carolina 41-10 in its first road game of the season but now makes the trip to Columbia against Missouri.
