Police have confirmed that they have arrested a 22-year-old man for the death of rapper XXXTentacion. Dedrick Williams was arrested on Wednesday evening and charged with first-degree murder only a couple of days after the murder had been committed. According to police Williams was charged with “murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. He was held without bond after a hearing Thursday afternoon in which he appeared before Broward County Judge Kim Theresa Mollica via closed-circuit television from the county jail.

Williams remained siled during his court hearing on potential bail. He invoked his right to refuse any interviews without his attorney present. His next court appearance will be on Monday before a criminal court judge.

Meanwhile, fans of XXXTentacion and his family continue to mourn the rapper. The rapper who rose to fame on a platform called SoundCloud was killed in a robbery attempt outside a motorsports store in Deerfield Beach, Florida. In a statement, the sheriff said that XXXTentacion had been approached by two armed suspects as the rapper left the dealership. The police are still seeking additional suspects in the murder. Documents showing the evidence that led to the murder charge have been sealed.

The rapper had been awaiting trial on charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, false imprisonment and witness tampering. Spotify had banned his music from their playlist due to his charges saying that they do not condone “hateful conduct.” His music was restored after just three weeks after the policy was rescinded. Spotify then promoted his music and did a tribute on its main page, Spotify users around the world streamed the rapper’s music 10.4 million times breaking a record held previously by Taylor Swift for the most streams by an artist on a single day.
