Classic rock fans get ready to be happy. The Blues And Bayous Tour featuring John Fogerty & ZZ Top is coming to South Florida! I can’t even begin to count the number of hits that these artists have amassed. They may seem like old-timers, but don’t get it twisted. These guys can still rock and rock with legendary status.
John Fogerty, born in 1945 is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He founded the band Creedence Clearwater Revival, for which he was the lead singer, lead guitarist and main songwriter. Together with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and his brother Tom Fogerty. The group had a whopping nine top-ten singles and eight gold albums between 1968 and 1972. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
After CCR parted ways in 1972, Fogerty had a very successful solo career. He was listed on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (at number 40) and the list of 100 Greatest Singers (at number 72). His biggest hits include “Proud Mary”, “Down on the Corner”, “Bad Moon Rising”, “Green River”, and “Fortunate Son”.
And then you have the bearded “bad boys” of ZZ Top. ZZ Top is an American rock band that formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. The band since 1970, consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons (the band’s leader, main lyricist and musical arranger), lead vocalist and bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard.
The band released its first album—called ZZ Top’s First Album—in 1971, and is still making music to this day. Beginning with blues-inspired rock, the band incorporated new wave, punk rock, and dance-rock by using synthesizers. The band is also known for its humorous lyrics laced with double entendres and innuendo.
The band’s top-selling album is the 1983 Eliminator, which sold more than 10 million copies in the United States. Eliminator had the hits “Gimme All Your Loving”, “Sharp Dressed Man” & “Legs”. In total, ZZ Top has recorded sales of 25 million albums, which place ZZ Top among the top-100-selling artists in the United States. That includes eleven gold, seven platinum, and three multi-platinum records as of 2016, according to the RIAA. By 2014, ZZ Top had sold more than 50 million albums worldwide! ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
A ton of hits and a lot of fun will be had at this show. The Blues And Bayous Tour will be at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre on June 3rd @ 7PM.
