Pick Your Poison: Allen West Vs. Patrick Murphy for Congress

Allen West and Patrick Murphy are going head-to- head in one ugly congressional race. Both sides are spending tons of money and Murphy, who recently attacked West in an ad saying he was racist, is now the victim of a West ad calling him out for getting into a drunken bar fight while carrying a fake ID.

To be honest, I think this is one of the worst congressional races ever. Allen West is a class A douche and definitely needs to be removed from office. The guy is African-American and a Republican which says it all right there. As for Murphy, I happened to meet him during his current campaign at a fundraiser and I have to say the guy seems not only to be in over his head, but also unqualified to be in Congress, having absolutely no political experience. That being said, I’d rather have an unqualified person with good intentions in office, then an all-out crook like West.

These two are the perfect example of what is wrong with politics in Florida. The good qualified people don’t want the job and so we are left with a choice between the crook and the unqualified, neither of which sounds too appealing. Both candidates have led hate ad-based campaigns, not once taking the time to tell Florida voters exactly what they plan to do if given the seat, making them both seem like government job opportunist and political followers rather than real Florida leaders.

Now, I have no problem with people getting elected just to tow the party line and support other people’s ideas, but in a state as big and important as Florida, you would think we could produce some real leadership. Ask yourself could either one of these bums run against Marco Rubio? Nope, they would get crushed, because Rubio is a real-deal politician, a leader, and I say they being a liberal democrat. The Dems need real leaders in Florida. This is an important swing state and with West’s record this should be one of the easiest seats for us to take. Instead, we are involved in an all-out blood bath that could end up being the most expensive race in the history of the United States Congress. And for what? So we can re-elect West, a proven loser, or put a new guy into office that has done nothing, and stands for nothing. Talk about a waste of money…
