Gay Icon Cyndi Lauper Opens LGBT Shelter For Youth In New York

Way to go Cyndi! With 40 percent of the homeless youth in New York identifying themselves as LGBT there’s no better way to help out a much needed community. True Colors, named after one of Cyndi’s famous songs will allow youth 18-24 a permanent place of support. Set to open in the winter of 2012.

“Our primary goal is to provide a physically and emotionally safe and supportive environment that will empower our young residents to be the self-loving, happy, and successful individuals they were meant to be,” said Lauper.
