Now you can add to your checklist of reasons to go to Club Space this weekend: a modified super-version of the club drug ecstasy has been “100% proven” to kill all blood related cancer cells. Back in 2006 when they started these experiments, they determined that in huge doses, ecstasy and antidepressants proved to shut down the already cancerous cells and prevent them from continuing their toxic growth. But the downside was, the doses of both would have to be in such high amounts that it would be lethal to the patient. Scientists at The University Of Western Australia have chemically modified ecstasy so that some atoms were taken away and replaced with others. Lead researcher Professor John Gordon, from the University of Birmingham, told the BBC: “Particularly the leukemia, the lymphoma and the melanoma, where we’ve tested these new compounds we can wipe out 100% of the cancer cells in some cases.” So now, what would normally take the amount of ecstasy to do the job and would be potentially hurt you, they can now do in 1mg. But don’t get too excited yet, because these are just test tube results. Before doctors would ever start prescribing it, it would need lengthy testing on both animals and humans before it would be mainstream. Last year I also wrote a story titled “About To Die? Just Get High!” which talked about how the main ingredient in magic mushrooms called psilocybin calmed even the most terrified nerves of terminal patients. So basically drugs are wonderful for you in the right circumstances. But again, according to scientists, BBC and other estimates, it could take up to 10 years until ecstasy becomes mainstream in the medical treatment world. But still, extremely good news and a huge step into fighting cancer. About To Die Just Get High Part 2!!! Share This Article To Show Your Raver Friends! The MDMA has a effect on cancer cells but is has to be 100% stronger.
Not to mention other ingredients of XTC can fry your brain.

“So now, what would normally take 100mg of ecstasy to do the job (and would kill you) they can do in 1mg.”
Uh, I’m not exactly sure where these guys got that 100mg is a lethal dose. 75-125mg is the dose level for someone of average body weight.
darkacid
Wow… 100 Mg of mdma kills? Bullshit. ive done over 200mg of mdma and im fine
Psyonic
“Silver” apparently has no idea that there is a difference between pure, lab created drugs and those bought on the street. Nor does “Silver” have the capacity to understand that “100%” stronger means twice as stong not 100 times as strong… This article is flawed, by the way, as 100mg of MDMA is barely an effective recreational dose, let alone a lethal one. And saying things like “Super ecstasy” is just ignorant and more than anything points to this as media spin. As soon as ” some atoms were taken away and replaced with others” it is no longer ecstasy but something else entirely. But some long chemical name doesn’t sell papers but “Ecstasy kills cancer” certainly does.
thrash
there are no other ingredients in real ecstasy. ecstasy is MDMA. period.

Silver, did you even read the article?
oki
to silver: other added/cut in ingredients of ecstacy pills can be harmful to you, especially if a person abuses the substance and is taking large quantities of it in a short time.
however, pharmacutical grade MDMA has no impure or “other” ingredients. its just 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
and of course, just because it has the words meth and amphetamine does not mean it acts just like those substances. as soon as other molecules are added (thus making a different substance), it becomes different with different properties.
pure mdma is actually a somewhat calming substance. i did a research study through wayne state in michigan back in 2002. your heart rate is very slightly raised. your body temperature is slightly raised. there is a slew of other neutral, negative and positive side effects, but i wont list em here, but you can read more at http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_effects.shtml
its when the black market and no regulation brings in all sorts of weird additives and fillers. anything from inactive innoculus substances to dangerous combinations like PMA and other contraindictive substances.
i also wonder, while administering this super-mdma to the patients, if there are different molecules, or in different structural arrangements, what kind of effects will the patient feel from it? it might be horrible, it might be nothing, it might be good. who knows. XP

Actually, It’s only proven to do damage to short-term memory.

This is complete bullshit. A normal dose of extacy is like 120mg, so 100mg certainly won’t kill you. And it won’t help you either! FUCK.

“So now, what would normally take 100mg of ecstasy to do the job (and would kill you) they can do in 1mg.”
Uhh 100mg of MDMA would kill you? No way, not even close.. This article is horrific. Post some sources or something. Don’t trust everything you read.
Brian
Other “prescribed” drugs like hydros, morphine, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, all anti-depressants, aderol, etc etc have no effect on brain. so .. have cancer and die or .. use drugs and live with a SLIGHT chance of detriment to your life.. you decide.
psillypsymun
100mg will not kill you OR “fry your brain.” Don’t believe what you hear. The average hit of x contains about .15 grams of MDMA. Do the math. I’ve taken more than that and had a great time. It is not lethal at that dosage.
JJ
This doesn’t change the fact that it burns serotonin out of your brain. And when you said, ” But the downside was, the doses of both would have to be in such high amounts that it would be lethal to the patient” how can something be healthy when it can kill you. Even if they have extracted and modified there is still the other toxins.

@Silver
“Not to mention other ingredients of XTC can fry your brain.”
XTC pills aren’t MDMA. Ecstasy are just pills people sell which rarely contain MDMA. They will probably contain various combinations of RCs (research chemicals – eg: mephedrone, MDPV etc) and drugs like caffeine.

Lee
Test it on humans, leave the animals out of it!
Cam
Ok, but if they moved the atoms around (as the article says) then it’s not the same molecule and therefore it’s not ecstasy/MDMA anymore
Austin
hey silver… people go through chemo to survive from this stuff, i would rather be on exstacy and fry my brain then to kill every cell in my body that includes hair growth just to live through chemo.
mizz.lee
The new chemical they are experimenting with has 100 times the effect of the unadulterated MDMA. This does mean that the effect of 100mg can be brought about with 1mg, but it has nothing to do with killing “100% of the cancer cells”. They did find that in some of their cell lines, but not most. And the title of this article is beyond poor science reporting. To say something is “100% proven” is essentially impossible in science, as it requires that all studies to disprove a hypothesis have failed to, but one cannot say for sure that future attempts to disprove it would also fail. It would be much more accurate to say “MDMA variant found to kill cancer cells in vitro” to express that these results do not yet apply to the human body, and avoid making wild claims that do not communicate the true results of the study.
James Carroll
FOR THE RECORD… 100mg will NOT kill you. 100mg is the average sized dose for a comfortable and rewarding experience. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_dose.shtml

what responsible journalism, you must be so proud ! whatever happens you should never take any responsibility for addicting innocent people to drugs, I mean that would require a conscience on your part wouldn;t it ?>

That is old news………

Silver- just a small point I’d like to make. “XTC” is neither a word nor a drug. Ecstasty is a word and a drug. The word refers to the drug, ecstasy, which is composed of one ingredient: MDMA. Just clarifying.
curious
better to be death or brain fried?
AvidUser
Actually there is no other ingredients in MDMA besides MDMA.

Is “fry your brain” a professional medical term or are you just repeating what some soccer mom told you she heard Barbara Walters say?
Calybri
MDMA accelerates serotonin production, it needs serotonin precursors to make more serotonin, 5 HTP and L-tryptophan amino acid, then it doesn’t fry you looking for serotonin ingredients, could just put 5 HTP in the pill with it, then it’s safe and effective…
mark j
xtc doesnt fry your brain, its people drinking to much water thinknig there parents will catch them is the problem. Alcohol is far more worse. fact!
erik
“ecstasy” is what chemical compound again? There is zero science reported in this article as much as i would like to believe it.
Brian
@ silver
i have to disagree,i’m now 40+ and have long since given up the drug life, but i have taken a lot of ecstacy and various other drugs over the yrs and i can say with out a doubt my brain works fine,
you just cant say it ‘DOES’ as it doesnt always,it should read it could do or it might do or theres a chance
kittyhead
Im curious as to how these measurements are calculated. I know for a fact 100mg does not kill you, it is actually a rather normal dose for recreational use. Is this a typo or are certain specifics left out? Are we talking 100mg per blood cell? Or something more like that? Id really like to know more about this, its all very interesting.
Michael
100mg of ecstasy kill you? Not likely…
Matt
Please cite your research.
Chris
It’s misleading articles like this that fuel peoples ignorance that these drugs are good and not harmful. Disgusted. no mention of the fact that in the preocess of frying the cancer cells they also fry the good normal cells, it is not a MIRICLE cure, mearly another strong POISON that can be used for Chemotherapy!
John
100 mg of E won’t kill you. I’ve done over a gram which would be over 1000 mg.
Malachite
Yeah, the dosage was explained in the article to be lethal. What isn’t explained is the cryptic statement, “Scientists … have chemically modified ecstacy so that some atoms were taken away and replaced with others.”
Uh… which atoms? Replaced with what others? And how the f*** does this make it non-lethal to humans in the high doses required to kill cancer cells?
SadieH
…but you’ll smoke enough newports to balance the benefits out
Jason
You cannot say that something is “100% proven” to kill all blood related cancer cells” and then quote the actual article which contradicts that statement. I mean, you can, but it’s wrong and you lose credibility as a writer. “We can wipe out 100% of the cancer cells in some cases” does not mean all blood related cancers 100% of the time.
Moving on.
Jake
100mg is deadly? According to Erowid(1) that is actually the standard recreational dose. The LD50 in humans is somewhere between 10 and 30 mg/kg. So in a 70kg (140lb) person, the lethal dose is somewhere between 700mg and 2100mg (2). And this is assuming no tolerance to the chemical.

You know what else fries your brain? CHEMOTHERAPY. RADIATION TREATMENT. CANCER. Wake up.

1. 100m of MDMA is would not kill you, and in fact wouldn’t make you roll all THAT hard.
2. ‘changing a few atoms’ is kinda making it totally different… theres only a few atoms that make crystal meth different than phenethalamine which is commonly found in chocolate and a few more atoms actually makes it MDMA

hopefully I’m not speaking out of place but I have done doses of molly (pure ecstasy) that are far higher than the “lethal” 100mg dose. please reply with some sort of answer to this. PS how can i get YOUR shit?
Cody
I’d love to see your proof for that claim Silver. They can cause serotonin syndrome if you use a massive amount of X in a short period of time, but thats it.
Are you kidding me? “Other” ingredients of X? Last time i checked, REAL X was 100% Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. If you’re getting X as a treatment option from a hospital its going to be pure and uncut. So with that, i have no idea why you would try and spread such obviously false information. Very ignorant of you.

Silver, chemo fry s the brain as well, what do you think they are dumping in your body, I work very closely with cancer patients and it is sad the effect it has on their body. Just think of dumping arsenic in your veins! Which one would be better who knows, but a cure would be nice

Hi Sara,
This is very interesting and wonderful news. But the title of your article is misleading. You discredit the message you’re trying to send by making an inaccurate statement. There is a big difference between “we can wipe out 100% of the cancer cells in some cases,” which is what the researcher you quoted says, and “Ecstasy 100% proven to kill cancer cells.” Do you see the difference there? I would never expect a scientist to make a statement like that – nothing is ever proven to work in 100% of all cases. They haven’t even gone so far as to say that gravity is a proven fact yet. So my immediate reaction to the title of this article was, “that can’t possibly be true.”
Hope this is helpful, thanks for the article.
Melissa

I thought people take 100mg of ecstasy to get high. Last time I checked, 100mg isn’t lethal.
