Man Cooked to Death at Bumble Bee Tuna Factory

Thursday morning (Oct. 11), just before 7am, 62-year-old Jose Melena was found dead at a Southern California seafood plant for tuna maker Bumble Bee Foods. Somehow, Melena got trapped inside a cooking device called a steamer machine. The state has launched an investigation concerning the accident and will hopefully find some answers. What a horrible way to go.

In a written statement, Bumble Bee Foods spokesman Pat Menke expressed condolences to Melena’s family and says operations at the canning facility will be suspended at the plant until Monday. (Oct. 15 – Today!)
