FORT LAUDERDALE – Legends of British rock, the all-American boy and hilarious and educational scientific method mayhem make the Parker Playhouse the place to be this May.
Science comes alive with the Smart Stage Matinee performance of Doktor Kaboom! sponsored by Atkins, on Thursday, May 5 at 10 a.m. Doktor Kaboom! takes children on an amazing interactive and educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences. Tickets are $7 for individual seats, $5.50 for groups of 10 or more and $3 lap seats for infants 12 months and under.
The unforgettable music of Freddy Mercury and Queen will rock audiences when One Night of Queen returns by popular demand on Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m. With spectacular lighting and special effects, Garry Mullen and The Works recreate and celebrate the music of Queen, which ruled the charts with hits “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites the Dust” and “We Are the Champions.” After winning the grand finale of the United Kingdom hit TV show Stars In Their Eyes as Queen’s lead singer Freddie Mercury, Mullen created One Night of Queen which has toured throughout Europe to sell out crowds. Tickets are $36, $46 and $56.
Catch Florida’s Singing Sons in their season finale The American Boy on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. in a high voltage concert of youth, spirit and fun. Featuring music from Broadway shows such as Damn Yankees, Sweeney Todd, South Pacific and Guys and Dolls and tunes from pop culture, Florida’s Singing Sons portrays the American boy as a soldier, vagabond, athlete and artist. Plus watch the boys sing in a tribute to the best of Simon and Garfunkel. Tickets are $22 and $28, with $12 tickets available to students.
