The grandfather of a 3-year-old boy murdered by his daughters live in boyfriend, rushed through the airport in attempt to be with his grief-stricken daughter. Inside the airport he found huge lines at the security check point and even with two hours to spare, it seemed as if he would not be able to make it through security before his flight left. The man pleaded with TSA officers in an attempt to explain his extraordinary circumstances, TSA did nothing to help him. Finally once through security the man grabbed his shoes and ran towards the gate in his socks clutching his bag and belt. As he approached the gate he looked at his watch, he was over twelve minutes late, surely the plane must have left. Yet, when he turned the corner towards the gate he found the Southwest Pilot and ticket agent standing there waiting for him. Here’s what they said.
“Are you Mark? We held the plane for you and we’re so sorry about the loss of your grandson.”
The pilot had held the plane for him! Apparently his wife had told the ticket agent about the tragedy when she purchased his ticket for him. Mark thanked the pilot by saying “I can’t thank you enough for this.”
To which the pilot responded, “They can’t go anywhere without me and I wasn’t going anywhere without you. Now relax. We’ll get you there. And again, I’m so sorry.”
How great is that, Top Gun line at the end by the pilot “they can’t go anywhere without me, and I wasn’t going anywhere without you.” A great line and great story Kudos Southwest Airlines, you guys kick ass!
