Everyone has been talking and speculating about IHOP’s temporary changes to their name. The company announced that it would change the P in IHOP to a “b,” but what did the b stand for? No one really knew and people started to speculate it could stand for bacon or breakfast. IHOP, as we all know, stands for International House of Pancakes and now the company has revealed that the b in the temporary name change stands for BURGERS!

IHOP doesn’t want to just be known for breakfast and brunch. The company also wants to be known for a place to get lunch and dinner so they have decided to add several new burgers to their menu, including the Big Brunch burger with bacon, a fried egg and browned potato on top.

IHOP isn’t really changing their name, this was just a marketing campaign to get people talking about IHOP and it worked!

Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP told CNNMoney, “We are definitely going to be IHOP. But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.”

While several of the IHOP restaurants have started to change IHOP sign to IHOb, Rebelez has said that the vast majority of its locations will continue to go by IHOP and only a handful will have their signs changed.

IHOP was trending on Twitter with many people taking to social media and predicting what the b in IHOb would initially stand for. Even Chiquita banana even got in the fun saying that the b should stand for “bananas.” Other people thought the b in the IHOb looked very similar to the O.B. Brand of Tampons with one Twitter user saying, “Well I don’t know about you but nothing like the new logo that looks like a tampon brand to make me hungry for flapjacks!”
