The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead on cable channel AMC are hugely popular shows. So popular, that it has actually created a segment of society that not only believes in zombies but believes that the zombies will eventually come for us (the living). Now while that seems far-fetched, our governmental agencies don’t necessarily disagree with that sentiment. The government and its agencies not only are running drills for “zombie holocausts” but every now and then, they prove to you that they are doing so. It seems like an accident when this happens, yet it continues to happen. Case in point, the city of Lake Worth, Florida.

Lake Worth residents received alerts about a power outage, but were also warned to watch out for “zombies”. The residents received the message during a power outage on Sunday, May, 20th, 2018.

The alert warned that more than 7,000 customers lost power “due, to extreme zombie activity.”

City spokesman Ben Kerr later posted a Facebook message saying officials were investigating the bogus alert and that he wanted to “reiterate that Lake Worth does not have any zombie activity currently.”

Kerr says 7,880 customers lost power, but it was restored within 30 minutes. He did not mention what really caused the outage.

This is not the first time something like this has happened, albeit not in Lake Worth, FL. It looks like we will continue to get “zombie” related scares and warnings from our trusty government. The question though is what are they trying to tell us? And is this just a metaphor for something else? Are “zombies” really just a term for U.S. citizens? Something to think about.
